 Shawna, the creator of PGL has always had a love for adornments of oneself, be it clothing, jewelry or simply what goes into and on the body.  This is where waist beads come in.  Waist beads are tools used to help some women and some men love on themselves a little more.  to assist in showing them that their bodies are beautiful, no matter the size, scars or shape. 

Tying on waist beads is a MOMENTOUS OCCASION, it is your very own celebration of self. When you choose your strand, and tie it on or have me tie it on you, you are making a commitment to yourself. You commit to loving yourself, loving your body.  It does not matter if I tie it on you or you tie yourself, set your intentions for the strand. Say your affirmations and knot that baby because it is now a part of your self - love journey and your body.    Throw the notion of flawed bodies out of the window, YOU ARE PERFECT and your body is WORTHY of your love! EVERY STRAND THAT I MAKE IS JUST FOR YOU!  

Shawna is a mother, an Army Vet, Systems Specialist Engineer, and Level II Reiki Practitioner with a passion for body positivity, self-love, good vibes and all things LOVE and elevation. She worked for years as a Neuromuscular Massage Therapist and IT Tech. She has a full spirited teenage daughter nick-named "Allie". Allie is powerful, beauty and light personified. She is truly a breath of fresh air and Shawna's' greatest creation.  
Shawna, is a vessel of positivity, self-love and the best friend that you did not know that you had; whether you need to talk, cry  or just plain ole share space, Shawna is the friend that will have your back through it all. She is a lover for all things ENERGY related, be it sage, palo santo, crystals, meditation, affirmations; you name it, she is IT!  PureGanic Love was created to purify everyone's inner peace, self-love and to promote body positivity and awareness one strand at a time!   

I started wearing Waist beads almost 13 years ago, and at that time I didn’t see many women wearing them at all. I did not have a flat stomach and felt like only skinny or flat tummy women without stretch marks or rolls wore them. I couldn’t relate to those women, because I had a mommy belly without any noticeable ab muscle definition and a few noticeable scars that I disliked. I felt like I could not relate to the smaller framed women that I’d seen wear them. So, one day while shopping at an African market here in Atlanta, I saw the most beautiful strands. I purchased one and it was gorgeous, but it ended up breaking after a few years. I was saddened and went back to buy more, the shop and the lady that made them were no longer there. In 2013 I began making them for myself, and then for my few of my friends. One summer day while vacationing in Orlando on the beach, I was in my bathing suit waist beads showing and a lady came to me asking about my (as she put it belly beads) I explained to her that they are waist beads and that I was wearing them to assist me with my weightloss as well as changing my perception of what my stomach was supposed to look like and my self-esteem in regards to my body. (Back then I struggled with not having a flat stomach and the many scars that I had from multiple abdominal surgeries). She was a kind woman that told me that she would like a strand and that she did not know where to buy them. Shoot, at that moment, I did not know where to buy any from either because, the lady I was buying them from was gone and I'd begun making my own. I explained that I made my own and that it was easy to do and tried to explain. She commissioned me to make her some and the rest is HERSTORY!! 

Here we are in the year 2020 and I have made waist beads for family members, strangers and friends over the years and I have no plans to stop! I have many pre - made strands and I also create custom strands for your heart's desire.
